Farid El Alagui has pressed his case for a first-team return for Hibernian after netting a double for the club’s under-20s.
The former Falkirk striker is yet to play for the Easter Road outfit this season after missing most of last term following surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon.
El Alagui, who also underwent minor knee surgery during the close-season, had a pin removed from his ankle over the summer and has been battling back to fitness since.
Hibs head coach Alan Stubbs recently insisted the 30-year-old required more game time before he could be considered for a top-team comeback.
However, the French-Moroccan, who netted five times in 10 starts last term, did his best to try and convince his manager that he is close to being ready when he scored twice and hit the post in Hibs’ 4-2 win over Aberdeen in the SPFL Development League.
The marksman managed the full 90 minutes, with recent signing Jamie Insall also getting on the scoresheet with a third-minute opener.
