Willie Collum has been handed another vote of confidence by Uefa after the controversial referee was selected to oversee Italy’s trip to Azerbaijan.
The crucial clash in Baku tomorrow afternoon will see Antonio Conte’s Azzurri book their place at Euro 2016 with a victory.
It is Collum’s fifth assignment during this qualification campaign, having previously taken charge of encounters involving the likes of Romania, Sweden, Iceland and Denmark.
Despite several controversies domestically, his reputation within Europe’s governing body remains as strong as ever.
Collum even became the first Scot since Hugh Dallas to take charge of a European final when he oversaw the Super Cup final between Barcelona and Sevilla earlier this season.
