Hearts have been dealt a blow after it emerged that influential defender Callum Paterson picked up a one-match ban in Saturday’s draw with Celtic.
The full-back went into the match treading a suspension tightrope, having racked up four bookings in Hearts’ opening seven league matches of the campaign.
With the red card he received against Hamilton Accies last month also being downgraded to a yellow, the 20-year-old managed to avoid a sixth caution of the campaign against Aberdeen nine days ago.
However, the Scotland under-21 cap crossed the SFA’s disciplinary threshold within 10 minutes of kick-off in the 0-0 stalemate against Celtic at the weekend thanks to a foul on James Forrest.
He will now be forced to sit out the trip to face Dundee United at Tannadice on October 18.
