Falkirk manager Peter Houston has praised the attitude and influence of David McCracken after drafting the experienced defender back in for his first league start of the season on Friday.
McCracken was a mainstay of the Bairns rearguard last term but lost his starting berth following the summer signing of Paul Watson.
However, the 33-year-old was restored to the team and captaincy for Friday’s 0-0 stalemate against Queen of the South as Falkirk recovered from the embarrassment of their 7-0 thrashing from Ross County in the League Cup.
Houston said: “I just felt we needed a wee bit more experience. David’s been training hard and working hard, and playing for the under-20s as well.
“He was maybe due a chance.
“And I think Peter Grant maybe needed the experience of McCracken alongside him, because both him and Paul Watson had had a couple of dodgy games.
“Fair play to ‘Cracks’, he keeps himself in good condition and he managed the game well, and defensively we were sound.”
