Falkirk striker John Baird is adamant that the Bairns’ nightmare in the Highlands will not derail their impressive start to the Championship.
Peter Houston’s side were thrashed 7-0 by Ross County in the third round of the League Cup on Tuesday evening.
But with Queen of the South the visitors in tomorrow’s televised league clash, Baird insists second placed Falkirk cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves.
The former Doonhamers striker said: “We’ve had a good start up until now, we just need to dust ourselves down.
“We will be fine for Friday, we’ve got a good bunch of characters in the team and I’m 100 per cent sure we’ll come back from it.
“It was totally out of character against County, I spoke to their manager Jim McIntyre after the game and they were quite worried there was going to be an upset.
“Credit to them, they had eight shots on target and scored seven goals. They were clinical.”
Despite not getting to his bed until the early hours of Wednesday morning, Baird had no qualms about being called into training.
He said: “We were back into training in the morning. The manager had us in, which is quite understandable, and we looked over things.
“We spoke about it and we’ll look to move on and do better.
“It’s a lot better that we were in and we’re now looking forward to Friday, it’s a chance to make amends to the supporters as you can imagine we’ve let a lot of people down.
“I don’t think it’s for me to say what went wrong. When it’s seven goals, there’s a lot that’s went wrong.”
