Raith Rovers are hopeful that the experienced Iain Davidson will be passed fit for tomorrow night’s daunting League Cup tie against Celtic.
The 31-year-old returned last month to his hometown team for a second spell, having played 290 games for Rovers to earn a place in the club’s Hall of Fame before leaving to join Dundee in 2012.
The defensive midfielder lasted just 24 minutes of Friday night’s morale-boosting 2-1 victory away to St Mirren after sustaining a dead leg in the early stages of a committed encounter.
However, manager Ray McKinnon is optimistic Davidson will respond to treatment to make himself available for the trip to Parkhead to face a Celtic team fresh from their 6-0 hammering of Dundee on Sunday.
McKinnon said: “Iain had to go off on Friday night with a dead leg, which was a concern because he’s got good experience, but we’re hopeful for Wednesday.”
