TIGERLILY, the ground-breaking ‘go-to’ venue that redefined Edinburgh’s bar and restaurant scene, is undergoing a major refurbishment – which promises to underline its position as Scotland’s number one destination for food, drink and good times.
The George Street venue – which includes an award-winning boutique hotel – is to have a ‘visually stunning’ complete makeover of its lay-out, interiors, and décor – as well as its dining and bar menus.
When Tigerlily first opened in 2006, it set a new trend on the look and feel of style bars and restaurants in the Capital – and in turn became the most talked-about late night venue in Scotland.
Acclaimed designer Jim Hamilton, who conceived the original design, has been recruited to lead the creation of the new-look Tigerlily. The main changes will see the building split into individual areas – including one called the Tiger Tent – that are aimed at being equally appealing for eating and drinking.
Teams of fit-out specialists are now working flat out to transform Tigerlily ahead of its re-opening on Friday, September 18.
David Johnston, Development Director at Montpeliers, who operate Tigerlily, said people will not be disappointed when they see what has been created.
He said: “We want Tigerlily to continue to be seen as a leader in style and to underline our reputation as the number one lifestyle bar and restaurant in Scotland.
“Tigerlily is still a hugely successful operation but after nearly a decade of leading the way, this is the right time to make significant changes to transform it into an even better venue that appeals to all.
“The refurbishment will create the perfect hybrid venue – a great bar, a great restaurant and a fantastic hotel that seamlessly moves from breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night drinking.

“We will create a visually stunning – yet fun – venue with incredible food and drink offerings, combined with superb customer service, that will be accessible to the widest possible audience – everything from business people hot desking, to young professionals and students, to shoppers and after work drinkers.
“And as Montpeliers has been a family-run Edinburgh business for more than 20 years, we think no one knows better than us how people in Edinburgh want to enjoy themselves and have fun.”
David added that a host of other plans are in place to continue the appeal of Tigerlily post launch, including celebrity chefs tables, cocktail masterclasses and taster packages, as well as a unique loyalty scheme.
