Ajax’s Anwar El Ghazi fit to face Celtic

BY ALAN TEMPLE – Capital City Press

Ajax have been handed a major boost ahead of next week’s Europa League opener against Celtic after their top scorer Anwar El Ghazi returned to full training.

The talented 20-year-old suffered a knee injury last week, forcing him to withdraw from international duty with Holland’s under-21 side and prompting fears that he could be set for a lengthy lay-off.

However, he took part in light training with the first-team yesterday (Wednesday) and, although he remains a doubt for this weekend’s Eredivisie clash with FC Twente, he is expected to lead the line against the Hoops in Amsterdam.

El Ghazi has scored six goals in eight games this term and represents Frank de Boer’s most potent attacking threat.
