Scotland forward Johnny Russell admits he is delighted with his form heading into the crucial Euro 2016 qualifiers.
The Derby County playmaker has been named in Gordon Strachan’s squad for the forthcoming matches against Georgia and Germany after a fine start to the season with the English Championship outfit.
Russell’s two goals in two games earned Derby a point in recent draws with both Middlesbrough and Birmingham City.
Speaking to Derby County TV, three-times capped Russell said: “I had a good scoring run in pre-season and I said then it was about taking it into the season.
“It’s an area I felt I was really lacking in, it’s a good start for me and I’m thankful it has helped us take something from some of the games because I think it would have been really harsh if we didn’t take points from the games.
“It’s always nice to start early, there’s no better feeling in football than scoring goals and winning games and hopefully I can keep doing that and contribute to some important wins this season.”
