Cardle aiming to kick-start career with Dunfermline after ‘torrid time’ in the Highlands

Joe Cardle has confessed he suffered a ‘torrid time’ during his last six months at Ross County as he looks to kick-start his career back at old club Dunfermline.

The 28-year-old re-joined the Pars on Friday following a trial earlier in the summer and made a 15-minute cameo appearance in Saturday’s 2-1 friendly defeat to Hibernian.

The winger left East End Park in March 2013 when he was sacked as the Fifers slipped into administration and after a spell with Raith Rovers returned to the top-flight with Ross County last summer.

However, after a change of management left him used sparingly under former Dunfermline boss Jim McIntyre, the one-time Port Vale and Airdrie player is keen to rekindle his love affair with the Pars.

He said: “Obviously that was a horrible day, the administration, but when I look back at Dunfermline it is only happy memories.

“It’s a place where I always enjoyed my football. Obviously, winning promotion and playing in the SPL for Dunfermline was a great achievement for the whole team and myself.

“To be fair, the last six months has been a bit of a torrid time for me, because I didn’t play and was frustrated on the bench.

“I just want to get back to loving the game and enjoying it and I’m pretty sure that I will here.”

He added on www.dafc.co.uk: “It’s time to move on now. This is a new chapter in my life and I am looking forward to this move back to Dunfermline; I loved my time here.

“Hopefully I can let my football do the talking again and just get back to playing and winning games, scoring goals and making goals. That’s what makes me happy.”
