Royal wee revealed as “by appointment” toilet truck leaves garden party

THE Royal wee was much in evidence as the official toilet truck left the Queen’s garden party in Edinburgh on Wednesday afternoon.

“By Appointment” – the Royal toilet truck.

The vehicle – photographed near the Palace of Holyroodhouse – had the number plate “TO14LET”.

And in case anyone was in doubt, it also proudly bore the inscription “By appointment to Her Majesty the Queen, Suppliers of Executive Toilet Hire”.

A large blue tank was securely attached to the back of the vehicle, owned by Event-A-Loo.

Isabel Young, co-founder of the firm which is based near Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, said they had supplied mobile toilets to the Royal Family for 14 years.

Over 8000 people attended the Queen’s annual Garden Party.

She said: “We’ve actually got a better number plate than that one. The other one reads “TO10 LET.

“We’re Royal Warranted, so we do all the Royal work.

“The Queen’s Garden Party is a nice one to do – we’re proud to do the work. It’s hard but it’s worth it.

“I met the Queen about two years ago. She was lovely, she was really pleased with what we’ve supplied.

“She commented on our good work.”

The Queen’s Garden Party, hosted by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, saw guests basking in glorious sunshine.

More than 70 people from all walks of life were given honours at the annual event.

Mrs Young, who runs the company with partner Jim Buchanan, declined to give specifics on the delicate matters of cost and logistics, but confirmed that some of their toilets are for Royal use only.

Waste is removed in tanks ranging in capacity from 200 – 500 gallons.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse at the foot of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile hosts the Queen’s Garden Party every summer.

She added: “Yesterday was for the public but we do have a unit just for the Royal Family.”

Asked what the specification was, she said: “I don’t think people would want to know that.

But she admitted: “It’s in peak condition.”
