Mark Burchill delight as Livingston sign up Liam Buchanan, Jackson Longridge and Myles Hippolyte

Livingston’s rebuilding process continued apace yesterday when they recruited Alloa Athletic top scorer Liam Buchanan and defender Jackson Longridge from Stranraer on two-year deals.

The Lions, who until last week were unable to sign anyone because of an SFA transfer embargo, have also re-signed marksman Myles Hippolyte on a new 12-month contract.

Manager Mark Burchill had only three players in his squad until the restrictions were lifted seven days ago and is thrilled with his latest business.

Buchanan, formerly with Cowdenbeath, Partick Thistle and Dunfermline, last season helped Alloa remain in the Championship with 17 goals over the course of the campaign, whilst Longridge made 46 appearances for Stranraer after moving from Ayr United.

Hippolyte became a firm fans’ favourite at Almondvale after joining last summer, generating shouts of ‘feed the hippo’ in honour of his knack for springing off the bench to score key goals.

Burchill commented: “I’m delighted to announce that Myles Hippolyte has signed for another season.

“Along with Myles we have signed striker Liam Buchanan from Alloa Athletic and exciting young defender Jackson Longridge from Stranraer, both on two-year contracts.”
