Former Scotland internationalist Darren Barr is hoping to kick-start his career in the Ladbrokes Championship after becoming Dumbarton’s latest summer signing.
The 30-year-old has not kicked a ball since November 3 after a devastating cruciate knee ligament injury prematurely ended his season with Ross County.
A hip complaint saw Barr miss large chunks of the previous campaign with Kilmarnock, consigning the experienced defender to just 20 appearances in the last two years.
However, Sons boss Stevie Aitken has taken a gamble on the former Hearts Scottish Cup winner following his release by County.
Barr, who also enjoyed a six-year stint at Falkirk, has penned a one-year deal at the Bet Butler Stadium and becomes Aitken’s ninth new arrival since replacing Ian Murray in the dugout.
