Queen of the South manager James Fowler has added two more signings after snapping up defender Darren Brownlie and winger Shaun Rutherford.

The Doonhamers have also confirmed the capture of striker Steven Higgins from Motherwell.

Centre-half Brownlie, 21, moves to Palmerston after making 27 appearances in the Blue Brazil side that was relegated from the Championship last season.

Winger Rutherford made 14 outings for the Lions last term but the 18-year-old was freed by manager Mark Burchill last month.

Fowler, whose side were beaten in the play-offs by Rangers at the quarter-final stage, has already snapped up goalkeeper Robbie Thomson and winger Ryan Conroy from Cowdenbeath and Raith respectively.
