Queen of the South have snapped up former Motherwell striker Steven Higgins.
The speedy 19-year-old netted scored six goals for the Steelmen’s under-20 side last term but failed to make the first-team breakthrough at Fir Park.
However, Queens boss James Fowler reckons the youngster has plenty of potential and is ready to give him the chance to shine in Dumfries.
Higgins becomes the club’s fourth summer signing following the captures of goalkeeper Robbie Thomson, Ryan Conroy and experienced full-back Gavin Skelton, who will also serve as Fowler’s assistant manager.
Queens will be hopeful Higgins can go some way to filling the void left by Gavin Reilly as the highly-rated forward closes in on a switch to Hearts.
