RAITH Rovers are expected to confirm the loan capture of Dundee striker Craig Wighton in the coming days.
New Rovers manager Ray McKinnon identified the highly-rated 17-year-old as a top signing target following his arrival from Brechin City last month.
Positive discussions took place between the clubs over a temporary switch but Raith were left waiting for Dundee to rubber stamp the move.
It appears the Dens Park outfit have now given their Kirkcaldy counterparts the green light to complete a six-month loan for the marksman, who has been linked with interest from the likes of Southampton, Sunderland and Swansea City in recent times.
Wighton spent a month on loan with McKinnon at Brechin at the turn of the year, scoring two in four games, and McKinnon believes the teenager will be an excellent signing.
Speaking last week, McKinnon said: “I had him at Brechin for a month and he was great. There is a lot of hype about him and he still needs to do it, but we would be delighted if we got a hold of him.”
