Ross County keen to install safe standing.

ROSS County could join Celtic in introducing safe-standing after admitting they are in talks with the local authority about making changes to Victoria Park.

The Hoops announced on Tuesday that they will make up to 2,600 rail seats available to fans from the start of the 2016/17 campaign and the Staggies are also hoping to get the green light to alter their ground.

The Highland outfit intend to install a safe standing area to their Jail End stand, where the so-called signing section would also be housed.

Chairman Roy MacGregor, who discussed the issue with fans at a recent meeting, said: “We are working hard on trying to introduce safe standing in the Jail End for the 2016/17 season, so that would see the reintroduction of the standing season ticket.”

Stadium manager David O’Connor said: “Essentially it is a local authority decision. Discussions have started about creating a standing area in the Jail End but it will not happen overnight.

“We have started on the road to making it happen and in the meantime our priority is to provide a safe environment for supporters coming to Ross County Football Club.”
