CCTV footage released in Sheku Bayoh investigation

The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner has released CCTV footage and is appealing for more witnesses in relation to the death of 31-year old Sheku Bayoh, who died in police custody on 3rd May.

Investigators are looking to speak to the drivers of nine cars, pictures of which can be seen on the PIRC website

 

 

The public appeal follows an extensive review of CCTV coverage of Sunday 3 May from Hayfield Road and Hendry Road in Kirkcaldy.
The PIRC would like to speak to the drivers of nine vehicles seen in the area between 7.10am and 7.25am who might have information relevant to the ongoing investigation.

The vehicles are:

A small grey hatchback-style five door car turning right onto Hendry Road.
A larger white family-style saloon five door car turning right onto Hayfield Road, with a possible taxi plate at the back.
A small silver car turning right into Hayfield Road.
A larger black car, possibly a SUV-style vehicle, turning left into Hayfield Road.
A silver van, possibly with a taxi logo on the side, turning into Hendry Road.
A small dark car turning left onto Hayfield Road.
A grey/blue car turning left onto Hayfield Road.
A white 4×4 turning left into Hayfield Road.
A small black car turning left into Hayfield Road.
The investigators said that any sighting is relevant to the enquiry.

Any person recognising their own vehicle, or the vehicle of someone they know from the CCTV images or footage, should contact them on 01698 543291.

A report on the PIRC’s findings will be submitted to the COPFS in due course.
