Ex-St Mirren and Aberdeen defender Lee Mair joins Stranraer

Brian Reid has made his first signing as Stranraer boss after snapping up veteran defender Lee Mair as player/assistant manager.

The 34-year-old spent last season with Championship outfit Dumbarton but made just 15 appearances for the Sons, with his last outing coming in a 3-3 draw with Falkirk in January.

However, Reid has wasted no time in capturing the experienced full-back, insisting he will be a pivotal part of his back-line – and an invaluable right-hand man.

The Stair Park boss said: “I’m delighted to have persuaded Lee to come on board, I believe he will be a huge asset to the club both on and off the park

Former St Mirren favourite Mair made nearly 150 appearances for the Buddies in a five-year stint in Paisley, while he also had spells with Dundee, East Fife, Falkirk, Stockport County, Dundee United, Aberdeen and Partick Thistle.
