MORE than 19,000 people from across Scotland have taken part in hundreds of clean up events as part of the 2015 Clean Europe campaign.
Scotland’s charity for the environment, Keep Scotland Beautiful, has helped people get involved with a Clean Up Scotland Campaign.
Derek Robertson, Chief Executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “This campaign provides a unique opportunity for Scotland to work in partnership with organisations across Europe to tackle the problem of littering and raise further awareness of the issue.
“The increase in participation this year demonstrates the significant public interest in making Scotland the cleanest country in Europe. However, we have much work to do in persuading the country that it is vital to dispose of litter responsibly.
“Keep Scotland Beautiful will continue to press for behavioural change to limit the amount of waste that is discarded.”
