Comic makes daughter beerbox schoolbag

A SCOTS comedian reacted to his daughter’s lost schoolbag crisis by making her a new one out of an empty beer box.

Funnyman Joe Heenan then shared a picture on Twitter of his daughter posing with the improvised bag.

Daisy, seven, seemed unimpressed, giving her dad a classic “if-looks-could-kill” expression.

Joe fashioned the new bag out of an empty 12-pack Miller Genuine Draft box and a long piece of string.

He wrote: “My daughter couldn’t find her schoolbag this morning so I made her one.”

It was retweeted over 1,000 times in 24 hours, with some fans joking that they would “phone childline” and suggesting that he call Dragon’s Den.

Perth-born Joe, who has built up his career doing stand up and writing for shows such as Chewing The Fat, went on to say he could be “the next Louis Vuitton but for school bags”.

He made the situation even more comical by joking: “It’s not even mine. I found it in a skip.”

Followers praised his ingenuity.

Another user asked: “My wife wants a Louis Vuitton handbag for her birthday, can you make one in time?”

Soong Ma added: “I’d like one of those, but in Carlsberg.”

Joe said yesterday: “It was just a bit of a laugh but it’s gone mad online.

“I put quite a few funny things up but this is definitely one of the most popular ones.

“My daughter is used to me joking around by now. I get my son involved, too.”

When asked if he thought his daughter might one day become a comedian, he joked: “I hope not.”
