Liz Kendall’s Labour leadership odds tumble

LIZ KENDALL is the latest candidate to enter contention in the Labour leadership race according to one bookies.

Ladbrokes have reacted to the withdrawal of the previously-fancied Dan Jarvis by shunting him to 20/1 (from 9/2) while Liz Kendall sees her odds slashed to 7/1 from 14/1, with Tristram Hunt also halving to 8/1.

Betting now also begins on the next deputy leader of the party and Tom Watson is installed as the 5/4 favourite ahead of Caroline Flint (5/2) and Angela Eagle (5/1).

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “It looks like Kendall and Hunt are the main beneficiaries of Jarvis’s withdrawl but we’d still need to see significant support for either for them to leapfrog the favourites.

“As for the deputy, the early front-runner is Watson and all signs point to him being tough to beat.”
