Watch as scaffolder’s party piece goes painfully wrong

A SCAFFOLDER discovered a new meaning of the phrase “hard hat” when he catapulted his protective headgear into the air.
A video shows the party piece going badly wrong when the helmet, instead of landing neatly on his head, almost knocks him out cold.

The scaffolder jumps on to his improvised catapult, with hardhat visible at other end

The clip – called “What Scottish scaffolders do when they aren’t working” – has attracted almost 100,000 viewers.

The scaffolder – wearing bright orange overalls and a safety harness – is seen on what appears to be the roof of a city building.
The man has improvised a catapult with two planks laid at right angles and his hard hat placed at the end of one of the lengths of wood.
The hardhat is flipped at least 12ft in to the air

He jumps hard on to the opposite end and the helmet curves gracefully through the air and lands, top side down, with a sickening thunk, on the top of his head.

His workmates explode with laughter as the man yells “that hurt” before staggering a few steps and lying on his side.
And comes down with a nasty “thunk” on the man’s head

One online observer said: “Should have really worn a helmet for this one.”

Another female viewer remarked “This is the reason why women live longer.”
As his pals laugh, the prankster rubs his sore head

Another quips: “This is why you didn’t get independence Scotland.”

The uploader, Knight Issue Onion, did not reveal where the clip was filmed.
