CYLINDERS of laughing gas have been stolen from a Scottish hospital.
The cylinders containing nitrous oxide were taken from Perth Royal Infirmary.
Police said the gas, used medically as a painkiller, could be used illegally as a recreational drug or as a fuel additive.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Nitrous oxide can be a dangerous substance if it is misused or consumed without medical supervision.
“Also, any attempt to interfere with the pressurised cylinders may result in serious injury if they are not handled correctly.”
The spokesman added: “It has been known to be used illegally as a recreational drug and can be used by car enthusiasts as a fuel additive.”
The theft is believed to have happened between 4.20pm on Friday and 5.20am on Sunday April 19.
Police are asking anyone who is offered this gas or has any information relating to the theft to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
