Guinea pigs dumped and left to die behind a branch of Aldi

A PAIR of guinea pigs have been rescued after they were dumped behind a branch of Aldi.

The unwanted pets – renamed Daisy and Delilah – were left in a cardboard carrier behind the store in Prestwick, South Ayrshire.

A member of the public saw a young boy ditching the pets.

The witness handed the animals in to the Scottish SPCA and they are being cared for at their Mainholm rehoming centre in Ayr.

Assistant manager Lynda Hourston said, “Whoever dumped these guinea pigs couldn’t have known they would be found by someone who would help them.

“Daisy and Delilah are really lovely girls who are full of fun and mischief. They also appear to have been well handled so it certainly seems they have been well looked after until recently.

“We’re now hoping to find this sweet pair a new home together with an owner who is committed to caring for them for the rest of their lives.

“If anyone has any information about Daisy and Delilah or is interested in giving them a loving new home, we’d ask them to call us on 03000 999 999.”
