A HILARIOUS video shows the moment a panicked drone flyer dashed into chest-deep water to rescue his precious toy.
The film from the drone’s first-ever flight shows it hovering at around 200 feet above a residential area in Amsterdam.
The aircraft, worth around £650, appears to suffer a sudden power loss and starts a rapid descent.
The owner, Zwier Spanjer from Amsterdam, realises his drone is heading for a pond and likely destruction.
The aerial footage shows Zwier, jumping a fence, running towards the edge of the pond and hesitating for a moment before dropping the controls and taking the plunge into the murky water.
With just a few feet between the drone and the pond Zwier desperately ploughs his way through the chest deep water, arms fully stretched and miraculously catches the it just centimetres from the surface of the water.
The footage ends Mr Spanjer soaking wet and laughing as he hands the drone to his friend and climbs out of the pond.
Zwier said on his Youtube channel: “After a whole day of flying my new DJI phantom 2 without any problems this happened because the battery was depleted…”
The video racked up almost 400,000 views in less than 24 hours.
Mr Spanjer’s drone, a DJI phantom 2 which features an integrated HD camera with tilt function, ascends at 6 meters per second and is priced at around £650.
The popularity of drones, which can range from £100 to as much as £90,000, has grown in the last year and the wide availability of them made them one of the most popular Christmas presents.
