A BRAVE Scot whose bucket list challenge touched the hearts of thousands has died.
Leighanne Easton, from Premny, Aberdeenshire, was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour in July last year and was given the devastating news that she had only months to live.
Not downhearted by her prognosis, 26-year-old Leighanne, a former hairdresser, started drawing up a bucket list of things to do before she died.
In the following months she travelled to see the Blackpool illuminations, met the cast of BBC comedy Mrs Brown’s Boys and had an exclusive backstage tour of Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
But it was revealed on Friday last week that the brave young woman lost her battle with the disease.
Tributes to Leighanne, who also raised funds for Brain Tumour Action, have come flooding in, with many people “mourning and celebrating you today”.
Leighanne’s mother, Gail, told friends and followers of the plans for her daughter’s funeral.
Writing on the Cancer is pants Facebook page, the mother-of-two said: “A celebration of Lily’s life will be held on Monday 27th January, 12.30, at Insch Parish Church and 2.30 at the Moray Crematorium.
“There will be teas, coffees and a buffet at Premny Village Hall and the bar will be open at The Hunters Moon.
“Lily wanted a party not a funeral tea so party we will.
“The dress code is come as you please but incorporate something purple or sparkly in there somewhere be it tie, socks pants, broach or the whole shebang.”
Tributes have been paid to the inspirational young woman.
One Twitter user, Crow Corvine, wrote: “RIP Lily. Many people are mourning and celebrating you today.”
Another user, Mark, said: “She thought she had sinus problems but it was a brain tumour. This week, Leighanne Easton died. Life can be so cruel.”
Lily was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive brain tumour, in July last year at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
She went to doctors after suffering from severe migraines which continued to worsen and resulted in her being sick at work a lot.
Doctors delivered the devastating news that she had the cancer and Lily was then given treatment at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital.
Friends and family regularly visited the brave young woman and helped her compile her bucket list.
Friends and family across the country fundraised hard to generate the funds to see Leighanne’s dying wishes fulfilled, including selling granny pants with “Cancer Is Pants” emblazoned on the rear.
After a successful few months ticking off the activities, Lily tragically lost her fight and died on January 17.
And in November Ms Easton met members of the Scotland rugby team during their match against.
Shortly after she travelled down to Blackpool to see the famous lights with her mother and grandmother before going to Liverpool to watch Mrs Brown’s Boys.
Other items on the list included wearing a wedding dress, going white water rafting and driving a tractor.
But not all the items were fun.
Lily decided she wanted to plan her own funeral and met with a funeral director to plan the day which she wanted to be a “celebration” rather than a sad day.
