A CARE home boss has been suspended over claims he accessed “granny porn” on a computer at work.
David Campbell, deputy manager of Ashlea House care home in Callander, Stirling, has been suspended by nursing watchdogs as they carry out a full investigation into the claims.
He faces further claims about his “conduct with patients and concerns surrounding the administration and disposal of medication,” a hearing of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) was told.
The NMC will now investigate the claims, and the Care Inspectorate has already conducted its own probe into the home.
At a hearing in Edinburgh last month, NMC panel chair Eileen Carr said: “It is alleged that Mr Campbell resigned from his post prior to the completion of an internal disciplinary process.
“It is alleged that Mr Campbell accessed inappropriate images of ‘granny porn’ whilst on duty.”
Ms Carr continued: “The panel had sight of the Care Inspectorate report, dated 23 August 2013.
“It noted in particular that the computer history had been deleted and that the police were unable to find evidence relating to the accessing of indecent images, although there was a picture of the screen showing the titles of the sites accessed.
“The panel noted that the Care Inspectorate report found that there was ‘sufficient evidence to assess that on the balance of probabilities the Deputy Manager did access the websites while at work.’”
A Care Inspectorate spokeswoman said: “We are aware that a member of staff has been suspended from Ashlea House and referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) by the service provider.
“We continue to work with the service to bring about the improvements required to ensure good quality care is being delivered.
“We take these matters very seriously and at all times, we expect staff in care homes to provide the highest quality of care to residents.
“The health, safety and well-being of residents is of paramount importance and all care services must ensure the highest quality of care is provided.

Marion Tomlinson, the home’s new manager, declined to comment on the case today (thur).
Ashlea House, owned by Mauricare Ascot Care ltd, cares for 21 elderly residents.
Mr Campbell could not be contacted for comment.
