A MAN has died following a blaze at his home despite desperate efforts by firefighters to revive him.
The unnamed 37-year-old was rescued a third floor flat in the Dumbiedykes area of Edinburgh, shortly before 5pm on Wednesday.
Firefighters gave the casualty CPR in a bid to revive him but he was later confirmed dead at hospital.
Four fire engines, including one with a tall ladder, went to the scene of the blaze close to the Scottish Parliament.
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed: “A 37-year-old man has died at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary following a house fire at Viewcraig Gardens, Edinburgh, around 5.10pm on Wednesday, September 4th.
“The fire is currently being treated as unexplained and police and fire service are continuing with their enquiries.
“Anyone with information that can assist with this investigation is asked to come forward immediately.”
