A BOOK showing pictures of Hearts fans’ cheeky “5 – 1” celebrations of their Scottish Cup win has sold out.
Jambos have been posting pictures of them flashing “5 -1” hand signs ever since their victory over rivals Hibs in May last year.
Often posed up with celebrities or in front of famous locations, the sign reflects the scoreline from the Hampden final.
Fan James Christie, from Glenrothes in Fife, decided to put together an album of the pictures called “We only Won 5 – 1”, and was shocked by how fast it sold.
Celebrities including David Hasselhoff and Madness frontman Suggs appear in the book, and fans pose in front of the Taj Mahal and Niagra Falls.
His print run of 400 books have all been bought, with money being raised for the club, and they are now considered a collector’s item.
The first 300 copies of the £15 book, released just before Christmas, were ordered before they were printed.
He said: “The players started the craze themselves, posting pictures on Twitter.
“Then before you know it everybody was doing it. It was a viral phenomenon.”
The 31-year-old radio producer said pictures soon came flooding in after he posted online calling for shots of the gesture.
He said: “I thought I’d get a reasonable number of pictures sent in, but it was more life a flood.
“I have over 100 pictures emailed to me, and all those people said they also wanted a copy of the book.”
He had originally planned to make just 50 copies, but had to increase this in order to meet demand.
He said: “I ended up doing a print run of 400 and they’re all gone.”
Mr Christie has no plans to print and more copes of the book, and revealed former Hearts ace Rudi Skacel -who appears in the book himself – was sent a copy.
He said: “I decided there would only be one print run – it makes it more limited edition.
“I numbered them as well – number 51 got sent to Rudi Skacel!”
Sections of the book include Famous Places, The Fans and Police, which shows fans and officers posing.
James continued: “One of the fan pictures is just amazing. I;ve no idea how it was done, but it shows a naked man on top of a building in Edinburgh making the gesture, and you can just see Easter Road in the distance.”
Mr Christie himself has posed up with Olympic athlete Eilidh Child and US wrestler Mick Foley giving the 5 – 1 sign.
He is giving the £2,500 profit from the books to the club.
He said: “I got to stand on the pitch just before a game to present the cheque – that’s probably the closest I’ll ever get to being on the team and it was more than enough payment for me.”
