Father ‘stabbed in face with nail after dropping off son at school’

Police

A DAD was allegedly stabbed in the face with a nail just after he dropped his son off at school.

The 45-year-old was rushed to hospital on Thursday morning where he was treated for sever puncture wounds.

His attacker is believed to have lunged at him with the make-shift weapon at the entrance to Northview Court multi-storey flats in Edinburgh.

Police described the incident as a “serious assault” and denied claims an industrial nail gun was used.

One onlooker said: “The guys were shouting and fighting – it was happening as people were taking their kids to school.

“There was blood everywhere – all over the street. It was horrible.”

Another neighbour from the building added: “I went down the stairs at about 9am and it had just happened.

“He was just dropping off his bairn at school with his wife – it’s not nice at all.”

Lothian and Borders Police said a man had been charged in connection with the incident.

A police spokeswoman said: “A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault that happened in Northview Court in the Muirhouse area of Edinburgh on Thursday.

“He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.”
