Emeli Sande gives Noel Gallagher the high-flying bird

EMELI Sande has hit back at Noel Gallagher after he said her “music was for grannies”.

On Thursday the Oasis guitarist said: “Emeli Sande? That is f****** music for grannies. I don’t get it.”

But plucky Sande – who just won Best Female and Best Album at the Brits last month – fought back on social media.

The 26-year-old from Aberdeenshire shared an image on Twitter of an elderly lady raising her middle finger with the note: “Thanks Noel.”

The image was seen by her 850,000 followers and “shared” nearly 150 times after being up for only an hour.

Fan Jess Merrick wrote: “Looooool Take that Gallagher! I must be the youngest granny ever then.”

Twitter follower Charley added: “Tooo funny what an idiot he is!!”

But other Twitter users also backed Noel’s comments.

Matt wrote: “Just when you thought Noel Gallagher couldn’t get anymore awesome he goes and has a pop at One Direction and Emeli Sande.”

But one social media user thought the pair were just as bad as each other.

Ian Duncan wrote: “Dad rock or gran R&B. You decide….”

During his anti-Emeli rant Noel – who won more than 60 awards with Oasis from 1991 until their split in 2009 – also complained about writing songs for younger artists.

He then went on to slate One Direction’s new single – a cover of Blondie’s 1979 hit One Way or Another.

The 45-year-old added: “And then you have the other side of the coin: One Direction. Prancing up and down singing a Blondie song and getting an award for it – nice lads thought they might be, f*** off.”

“Here’s another thing. I must have been asked to write songs for people about 20 times.

“‘Hey man — we should write some songs together’. F****** write your own songs.

“I spent 46 years busting my a*** to get here, slaving over a line in a song for a month.

“So no, I won’t write a song with you, you little p****.”
