Care home boss alleged to have verbally abused staff

A CARE home manager faces being banned from nursing after allegedly branding colleagues “useless black bitches”.

At a nursing watchdog hearing yesterday, Charles Fraser, former manager of Viewpark Care Home in Edinburgh, admitted three charges of speaking to colleagues inappropriately.

He admitted using the phrase “I’ll hammer you” when speaking to colleagues on various occasions.

Mr Fraser also admitted shouting at the same staff member twice on the same day, a hearing of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) was told.

The private care home cares for people suffering from dementia and alzheimers.

But he denies ten other charges of misconduct, including referring to unnamed members of staff as “useless black bitches” on a date in 2009.

In January that year, a colleague, referred to as Staff Member A, was allegedly told by Mr Fraser “you have packed on the beef”.

While speaking to a resident at the home on another date in 2009, Mr Fraser is alleged to have said “ask that big heifer over there”, referring to “Staff Member C”.

Another charge alleges that he sent a text message to a member of staff, discussing a colleague, stating “it should have been her f****** neck” or words to that effect.

He also threatened to transfer a staff member to another care home, causing her harassment, alarm or distress, it is said.

Mr Fraser’s representative told the hearing yesterday that, in relation to the denied charges, “he does not have a recollection of doing them”.

The hearing, in front a panel in Edinburgh chaired by Julian Weinberg, continues.

A spokeswoman for the home declined to comment but said Mr Fraser no longer worked there.
