Scots psychic in winnings war with Ukranian talent show

A SCOTS woman who won a Ukranian psychic talent show has hit out at television show bosses after they failed to hand over her winnings.

June Field entered the International Psychic’s Challenge last year for her chance to win £19,000.

The 52-year-old mum from Dundee fended off 70,000 hopefuls over 38 challenges to be crowned World’s Greatest Physic by a panel that included spoon-bender Uri Geller.

She even secured 50% of the public vote despite being up against a Ukranian finalist.

The show was watched by 34 million people but the psychic Scot said she has not received a penny of her winnings since she received the gong last month.

June said: “I should have got 250,000 grivna which is about £19,000.

“So far I’ve had nothing. Maybe it’s just been delayed because it’s been their Christmas.

“And to add insult to injury I had to pay £57 to get the heavy trophy home.”

June has also gathered the support of fans all over the world after posting a message on her Facebook that reads:

“I have had the support of many Ukrainian people since posting the injustice about my win and no cash prize. I am touched by your support.

“I was warned by many people not to come and take part in this country… I didn’t listen and wanted give Ukraine the chance.

“They used us and kept us away from our families, our lives, our work for six months.

“We worked hard for them. I feel shame for them as they have not only let me down but also their country with their lies, cheating and corruption.”

June also had to perform one of the tasks blindfolded

June, who is a widow, had to live inKiev–Ukraine’s capital city – for six months during the filming of the programme.

She took part after receiving a phonecall from producers but admitted she never thought she’d win and only went for a bit of a holiday.

She said: “It was totally out of the blue, but I thought ‘why not?’.

“I’ll get to see Ukraine and have an adventure, all expenses paid.”

When she won the show she was originally overjoyed at being crowned World’s Greatest Psychic.

She wrote: “It’s been a long 6 months, but yesterday I WON!! I am the only English speaking person to win this competition and took 50% of the votes from the Ukrainian people even although they had a Ukrainian participant.

“I am so overwhelmed by that.”

But days later June hit out directly at the show makers: “As for STB, the television company, they sent me home without payment of the prize money and they should be ashamed to be representatives of the country of Ukraine.”

June also hit out at the nature of the tasks she had to perform.

She said: “Some of them I’d think ‘why on Earth do they want me to do this?’

“There was one where a couple were on the show – their daughter had been murdered.

“I had to go and stand on the spot where she’d died and the producers wanted me to tell them what she felt in her last moments.

“I refused – this would torture that couple. That’s not my job. It’s my job to say people are OK.

“I want to give them comfort.”

June first realised her psychic ability at the age of four.

She said: “I can remember saying to mum and dad to leave the light on as there were people in my room – I’d wake up and they were right there.

“It was terrifying because I didn’t know who they were. But it wasn’t til I was about 12 I started to realise I was different.”

The Dundee woman said that at heart she is just a “normal person” and that sometimes her ‘powers’ are a curse.

She added: “I’m a normal person – I don’t sit around with my friends having spooky parties.

“It’s a gift in that I help people and I get something from that. But it’s a curse in that my sensitivity is sharpened to such a degree I can’t switch off.”

Ukranian company STB were unavailable for comment.
