Family’s lucky escape after car hits electricity pylon

A FAMILY had a lucky escape after their car spun out of control and hit an electricity pylon.

The family-of-four – including two children – were driving on the A702 near Carlops, Scottish Borders, when their car left the road and hit the wooden pylon.
Emergency services were called from a mobile phone at around 10pm last night (THURS) shortly after the accident happened.

The paramedic was alleged to have visited the shops before taking a patient to hospital

The children, a boy aged eight and a girl, five, were taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh to be treated for minor injuries.

They were accompanied by their 40-year-old mother. She and the children’s father, 39, suffered minor injuries and no other vehicles were involved.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said: “We received a call after a car had spun several times and hit a wooden electricity pylon.

“The children were given first-aid by the crew at the scene and then taken to Sick Kids.”

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance service said they sent two vehicles and treated all four passengers for “minor injuries”.

Fire crews also went to the accident scene.
