A MOTHER of two died in a horrific motorcycle crash – just days after passing her test and buying a new bike.
Joanne Hall, from Scone, Perthshire, died after her Baimo motorbike collided with a car and another motorcycle.
The 41-year-old, also known as Mona, leaves behind two teenage daughters.
She worked as a support-for-learning assistant at North Muirton Primary, Perth, whose headteacher, Angela Dow, said everyone “will miss her terribly”.
“Everyone at the school has been stunned by this terrible news,” she said. “Joanne was a highly valued member of staff who supported many children during her eight years at the school.”
Joanne was driving near the Ballathie House Hotel on Sunday evening just before 6pm. It is understood that she collided with black Peugeot car and was killed.
In a separate collision the driver of a Kawasake motorcycle was then involved in minor collision with Joanne’s Baima motorcycle as it was lying on the road separate from the initial crash site.
A Tayside Police spokesman said: “Following the initial collision a green-coloured Kawasaki motorcycle travelling on the road was subsequently involved in a minor collision with the Baimo motorcycle.
“The rider of the Kawasaki motorcycle and the driver of the Peugeot car were uninjured.”
Police are still appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have information relating to the collision.
Joanne was also a former member of the roller-skating group Fair City Rollers who went on to actually work as a referee in the sport when she gave it up – earning her the nickname Ref D’Mona.
The group then posted a message in her honour on their Facebook page. It read: “It’s an emotional time – everybody has lost a dear friend – amazing person and probably the coolest referee Scottish roller derby has seen.”
