Schoolboy artist designs final drawing ahead of move to America

A SCHOOLBOY famous for his sensational fundraising drawings will leave one last farewell design before heading off to the United States.

Seven-year-old Jack Henderson’s latest masterpiece is a range of commemorative t-shirts for the Edinburgh Sick Kids Friends Foundation as part of the charity’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

Last year the youngster from Prestonpans in East Lothian raised more than £32,000 for the sick kids charity after his youngest brother Noah became ill and received treatment at the Sick Kids Hospital.

After only setting out to raise a modest £100 the wee artist offered to draw anything for the t-shirt design and it was suggested that a love heart

Jack said: “Everyone seemed to enjoy my drawings and now I hope they will like my t-shirt designs.

“So many people have been very generous and helped me raise a lot of money for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation but if you still want to donate I would be really happy if you would buy a t-shirt.”

Jack’s dad Ed said that when the family moves across the Atlantic he hopes his talented son will still be able to help people in need.

He said: “I have been offered a job in San Francisco so it’s an amazing opportunity for the whole family.

“Jack still loves drawing and will continue to do what he can in the US to help the Sick Kids and enjoy drawing.”

Maureen Harrison, chief executive of SKFF, said: “Jack has already proved himself to be a very creative young boy with all of his excellent drawings and I’m delighted that he is helping us raise even more funds for our 20th anniversary.

“We want this year to be our best so far so please dig deep and invest in one of SKFF’s commemorative t-shirts.

“All funds raised from the sales will help fund innovative equipment, training and research and also provide support for patients and their families.”

Costing £5 each the t-shirts can be bought online at www.edinburghsickkids.org and are available in sizes aged 3 to 4 and 5 to 6.
