A LORRY burst into flames at the Forth road bridge this morning, causing delays for rush-hour commuters.
Lothian and Borders Fire service rushed to the scene at 8.13am today as a large lorry was on fire on the southbound carriageway.
The large red vehicle contained bags of paper in its cargo.
The southbound lane of the bridge was closed for a short period of time while 10 fire fighters extinguished the fire.
Firefighters used breathing gear and a hose was used to tackle the flames.
One onlooker said: “I was stuck in a queue of traffic on the bridge and when I reached the other side I could see about 7 or 8 fire fighters and two engines surrounding the lorry.
“One fireman was spraying water to the bottom part of the vehicle and they were stopping people from getting too close.”
No injuries were reported from the incident.
