Don’t rain on my parade: Queen’s garden party photo special

TRAFFIC trouble hit the Queen’s garden party in Edinburgh today after rain left car parks waterlogged and unusable.

Around 8,000 guests arrived for the event by car, taxi and bus, mingling with local traffic outside the Scottish Parliament and causing lengthy queues in the area.

Revellers wearing fancy frocks and fine suits were seen clambering out of public transport as they made their way to the annual event.

Guests at the party in the ground of the Palace of Holyrood house were set to enjoy 20,000 sandwiches and 20,000 slices of cake, washed down with 27,000 cups of tea.

After the playing of the National Anthem, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, together with other members of the Royal Family, circulate among the guests through.

Each takes a different route and random presentations are made so that everyone has an equal chance of speaking to Her Majesty and members of her family.
