Gamekeepers tweed themselves to a new calendar

GAMEKEEPERS are making tweed sexy again by posing next to a bevy of models who are swapping the catwalk for the great outdoors for the latest edition of the Gamekeepers Welfare Trust calendar.

With the theme of Gamekeepers, Girls and Gundogs, the calendar features  tweed-clad gamekeepers, models and action ready working dogs pictured in scenic locations across Scotland, England and Wales.

Sponsored by Bell Ingram’s Sporting Lets division, a proportion of the proceeds will be donated to Hounds for Heroes which provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured Ex-servicemen and women to help provide practical support, leading to an enhanced quality of life for its clients.

Following on from the success of the previous editions the 2013/14 calendar is expected to be just as popular with some of the funds also going to the Gamekeepers Welfare Trust who provide a helpline, support and financial grants for gamekeepers, ghillies and stalkers and their families in times of hardship, ill health and retirement.

Charlotte Gilfillan of Bell Ingram Sporting Lets said: “The calendar is a very creative way to help raise funds for those who need support and I was delighted Bell Ingram Sporting Lets was part of helping make the next edition financially possible in aid of these fantastic charities.  A lot of organisation goes into the production of the calendar and this year’s photographs are fantastic.’’

Covering 13 months with 14 photographs it has proved popular in the past as a great gift idea as well as for own use.

“Delighted”

Helen Benson of the Gamekeepers Welfare Trust, said: “I have been absolutely delighted with the reception the previous calendars received and I hope this one can be just as or even more popular.

“Yet again it has been really good fun to do and everyone involved has been a pleasure to work with. It has been well-supported by organisations involved in country sports including Bell Ingram Sporting Lets and I cannot thank them enough as without sponsors it simply couldn’t have gone ahead.

“This is one of our major fundraising initiatives and as our service becomes more extensive we need to ensure we can provide help whenever and wherever it is needed.

“We are probably one of the few charities who support other worthy causes and we hope we can continue this tradition by raising valuable funds for the Hounds for Heroes who are supporting the people who keep us safe and have paid a heavy price.

“The official launch of the calendar takes place within the Scottish Gamekeepers Association stand at Scone Palace Estate where the 24th Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust Scottish Game Fair is held. We hope this will create a real buzz and help sell as many copies as we can.”

The calendar will be on sale from 29th June at all the major Game Fairs plus a number of other outlets as well as directly from the GWT website. The cost per calendar will be £10 plus p&p.
