Children safe after dinghy capsizes

TWO children have been treated for mild hypothermia after a dinghy capsized at a Scottish reservoir yesterday.

A five-year old boy, eight-year-old girl and 41-year-old man were taken to hospital following the accident at Threipmuir Reservoir in Edinburgh.

Police, ambulance and fire brigade were all in attendance at the incident, which occurred just after 2.30pm today.

The reservoir is situated at the Pentland Hills, two miles south of Balerno, near Harlaw

A Spokesman for Lothian and Borders fire and rescue said: “We received a call to say that a dingy had capsized.

“Everyone is onshore and safe.

“A 41-year-old male, seven-year old child and five-year-old child were all taken to hospital with mild hypothermia.”

A spokesman from Lothian and Borders police confirmed they were involved at an incident at the reservoir, but said there were no casualties.
