Boulders on road cause damage

A NUMBER of vehicles were damaged today after boulders were placed across a busy road.

Police in West Lothian are appealing for information after two vehicles struck the boulders almost simultaneously at around 1.35am this morning.

The first damaged vehicle, an articulated lorry, two tyres and the second vehicle, a car, suffered engine damage.

Both drivers escaped from their vehicles unharmed.

Officers consider the boulders to have been placed across the road on purpose, around four miles west of the junction with the B7008 Harburn Road.

A police spokesperson said; “This utterly dangerous and reckless act led to damage to two vehicles and those responsible must be brought to justice.

“While thankfully no one was hurt, these actions could have led to serious injury and police are keen to trace those responsible as a matter of urgency.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area or travelling on the A70 in the early hours of Wednesday morning and may have seen anything to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

“Similarly, if anyone has any further information that might be of use please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact Lothian and Borders Police immediately on 0131 311 3131 or Crimestoppers in complete confidence on 0800 555 111.
