New concept store provides jobs boost

A POPULAR UK high street chain is set to open its first concept store in Scotland later this year.

River Island’s new ‘Accessories Boutique’ will soon be a feature in Aberdeen’s Union Square and will provide a boost to the town’s jobs market creating both full time and part time positions.

The new 2900 sq ft boutique will focus mainly on footwear, bags and accessories as in times of austerity consumers are looking to purchase affordable one-off items that allow them to “spice up their wardrobe”.

The new outlet will be joining the 26 other stores that the chain already has in Scotland.

Ryan Manson general manager for Union Square said: “Union Square has brought many new brands to Aberdeen and to Scotland, and this latest example is very exciting.

“River Island is a real high street favourite and to secure its first Boutique in Scotland is an endorsement of Union Square and its shoppers.

“Retailers want to invest in Aberdeen and we welcome River Island’s new concept store. Shoppers will no doubt flock to see it. We hope this helps to attract more people to Aberdeen from the surrounding area.”

A spokesperson from River Island, stated: “We are looking forward to giving Scottish shoppers a new concept to try – the popularity of our accessories in recent times has prompted us to go ahead with the Boutique.

“The time is right for an accessory boutique – something that offers shoppers just the right addition to their outfit, something to make it that bit more special.

“That’s what people want these days and we are delighted to be launching our first Scottish Accessory Boutique in Aberdeen.”
