Attempted robbery in West Lothian

LOTHIAN and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at a West Lothian newsagent.

The incident happened around 5.45pm on Sunday at the A&S (Premier Store) shop in Sheephousehill Road, Fauldhouse.

The shopkeeper was inside along with two customers when a man entered and presented a knife before demanding the till.

After the suspect tried to remove the register from the counter, the shopkeeper fought him off and he fled the premises empty handed before being lost to sight on Barton Terrace.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

The suspect is described as white and tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a dark hooded top, blue jeans, brown Timberland boots, gloves, and a grey Tammy hat. A scarf or other item of clothing was covering his face.
