Bookfest poetry competition looking for entries

AN annual book festival is offering a £100 top prize in an open poetry writing competition.

Fife Bookfest  is looking for entries from anyone living or working in the area.

Poems may be on any subject, but must be no more than 40 lines and can be written in English or Scots.

Lillian King, Fife Book Fest Committee, said: “I’m happy to announce this competition, and encourage writers of all stages and abilities to enter.

“We’re really excited about this year’s festival, and we’re looking forward to reading a wide variety of entries from all social backgrounds and creeds.”

Entrants must not write their name on the page, but name, address and title of poem must be included in submissions.

Closing date for entries June 30, 2012.

Prizes will be awarded at an evening of music, song and poetry in The City Hotel Dunfermline on Tuesday October 2, 2012.
