Teenager robbed and threatened at knifepoint

Police are appealing for witnesses after 16 year-old boy was threatened at knifepoint.

The incident happened on Wednesday, May 2 between 0530 hrs and 0600hrs in Newbattle Road close to Newbattle Abbey College, Dalkeith.

The victim was walking alone when a man pulled up in a white Honda car and threatened him at knifepoint. He demanded he hand over his personal belongings which included an iPhone, cash and a gold ring.

The perpetrator was then seen driving off towards Newtongrange. He is described as a white male in his early 20’s, of stocky build with strawberry blond shaved hair.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “While the victim wasn’t injured, he was understandably shaken as a result of being robbed at knifepoint, and we are appealing for any information that can help us identify the suspect.

“Anyone who was in or around Newbattle Road between 5.30am and 6am today, who either witnessed the incident or saw a white Honda car being driven in the area, should contact police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, or who has any other information that can assist our inquiries, should also get in touch.”
