ICONIC city police boxes are to be put up for sale.
Lothian and Borders Police Board is auctioning off some of the boxes in Edinburgh.
Twenty-two of the cast iron boxes, deemed surplus to operational requirements, are under offer individually until May 31 at midday – there is no set guide prices for the pieces of street furniture.
For sale signs will be put on the boxes this week, with brochures available for anyone interested.
The money made by the sale will go towards the Force Capital Investment Programme.
Sara Griffiths, Lothian and Borders Police Property Manager, said: “When these boxes were introduced they would have proved invaluable to officers, but as technology and policing methods evolved a number of them have now become obsolete. This is a great opportunity for collectors to snap up a unique piece of Edinburgh, and policing, history.”
Anyone interested in purchasing the boxes should contact City of Edinburgh Council Services for Communities Department on 0131 529 5983.
