Skin cancer stats emphasise need for Cancer Drugs Fund

STATISTICS showing a massive rise in skin cancer cases amplifies the need for a Scottish Cancer Drugs Fund, say the Scottish Conservatives.

ISD Scotland revealed the increase today.

Scottish Conservative health spokesman Jackson Carlaw: “The Scottish Government has to wake the nation up to the risks of skin cancer and demand that people are properly informed and act responsibly with their health.

“However, given Scotland’s depressing record on cancer survival rates, we also need to ensure that we offer more hope to sufferers than in other countries and not less, as we do currently.

“Scotland needs a Cancer Drugs Fund and these latest figures demonstrate just how urgent this need is.”
