POLICE are seeking to reunite a writing box full of 1930s love letters with its rightful owner.
The box was found floating in a canal in water at Dochgarroch, by Inverness, last December.
Inside were letters addressed to Miss S R Paterson, “Bidston”, Ross Avenue, Inverness, postmarked Edinburgh, August 19, 1934.
There are a number of love letters and wedding invitations of great sentimental value inside the box and surprisingly, they are very well preserved despite having been in the water.
It was handed in as found property to Burnett Road Police Station, Inverness and officers are still trying to trace the owner.
Efforts by the Lost and Found Property Department in Burnett Road, Inverness have failed to trace or identify an owner for the box and contents.
Does anybody have any knowledge of the lady or the address, who can assist with reuniting the box and letters with her or any family members.
Please make contact with the Lost/Found Property Department, Burnett Road, Inverness on 01463 228413, or if you wish to remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
