Scottish punters to bet £20million on National day

SCOTTISH bookmakers are predicting a £20million betting bonanza in Scotland this weekend, with punters going crazy for the Grand National and the Scottish Cup semi finals.

Paul Petrie, a spokesman for online firm McBookie.com, said: ” The Grand National is the one race where the whole nation will have a bet, but the fact that it falls on the same day as the semi finals of the cup, both in Scotland, and England, means it will be a massive day for betting.”

Bookies are predicting a betting frenzy on the horse race

The market is headed by Synchronised for AP McCoy as he looks to become only the second horse to win the Gold Cup and the Grand National in the same year.

Bookmakers are also fearing the first ever victory for a female jockey with Katie Walsh and Nina Carberry both with great chances on Seabass and Organisedconfusion.

Petrie added, “There is always a great story to the National winner, but, if Katie Walsh could win the race for her father and beats her brother, Ruby, into second place, then Aintree will erupt and it will cost bookies a fortune.”
